    Euryops serra bud
    Author: Ivan Lätti
    Photographer: Judd Kirkel Welwitch

The Euryops serra bud is a thick disc that narrows slightly from the base in conic section style to where it flattens on top into the single row of oblong involucral bracts. The bud is from 1,5 cm to 3 cm wide.

Pale green lower down, the about 21 finger-like bracts are light lilac grey and joined lower down. They compete for space in holding the bud contents firmly under cover, resembling the wrinkling of an old toothless mouth or posterior. A curious, white structure, tiny and shrine-like, is positioned in picture where the bract tips meet in the centre (Manning, 2007; Bond and Goldblatt, 1984; iNaturalist; https://www.worldfloraonline.org).
