    Adhering to the stems with slightly concave upper surfaces, the Edmondia sesamoides leaves near the flowerheads are mostly scale-like. The sparsely branched stems have dark green, pointed leaves. Whitish woolly stem parts are visible around the leaves that are hairless on their lower surfaces. The margins of the alternate, overlapping leaves are rolled up. 

    On old stems the leaves sometime lose their green colouring (Manning, 2007; Bean and Johns, 2005; iNaturalist; iSpot).
