The stalkless flowerheads of Helichrysum pagophilum grow solitary at stem tips. The involucres around the disc florets each consists of about six rows of white or pale yellow bracts. Regularly overlapping or imbricate, the bract pattern in these flowerheads resemble a tiled roof. The flowerhead centres are flat discs, initially pale yellow, later brown or brownish grey, comprising the numerous, tiny disc florets turning into fruits. A whitish ring is present around the florets, formed by the spreading inner surfaces of the inner row of pointed tip bracts. Later they become paler brown than the dried disc florets in their midst (iNaturalist; http://encyclopaedia.alpinegardensociety.net; www.keys.lucidcentral.org).
