The simple leaves of Helichrysum pagophilum form low level rosettes at the tips of creeping stems, together resulting in the rounded dome-shape of the plant. The leaves are sessile, i.e. they have no petioles and clasp the stems.
The leaf-shape is ovate with entire margins that taper to rounded or pointed tips. The concave, in-curving blades are grey from being covered in silky-white, felted hairs, the margins white and also short-haired. Older leaves grow wider, losing shape and colour. In the photo the lower ones appear soon browned, only few per stem-tip showing the live or young colouring (iNaturalist; http://encyclopaedia.alpinegardensociety.net; www.keys.lucidcentral.org).
