Open wide and facing to both sides of the stem, these Ixia viridiflora flowers are bending their tepals back further than mere spreading. The dull yellow-beige anthers are long and straight, granular with pollen grains and diverging.
The short style branches below the anthers are dark and visually obscure, blending into the central purple to black blotch of the flower centre. The dark patch is a target for the monkey beetle pollinators (Curtis-Scott, et al, 2020; iNaturalist; http://pza.sanbi.org).
