Cleretum maughanii, commonly known as the Hantam sandfig, in Afrikaans as Karoosneeu (Karoo snow) and previously Dorotheanthus maughanii, is a dwarf annual growing short, decumbent branches and forms carpets to heights of 5 cm.

The species distribution is in the Northern Cape, restricted to part of the Calvinia region.

The habitat is karoid succulent and scrub vegetation on dolerite slopes in gravelly clay soils. The species is not considered to be threatened in its habitat early in the twenty first century (Smith, et al, 1998; Manning and Goldblatt, 1997; iNaturalist; http://redlist.sanbi.org).
