    Helichrysum acrophilum flowerheads

    Helichrysum acrophilum flowerheads
    Author: Ivan Lätti
    Photographer: Judd Kirkel Welwitch

The flowerheads of Helichrysum acrophilum grow solitary or in small clusters at stem-tips.

Five rows of spreading, overlapping involucral bracts, white or pale yellow and boat-shaped, surround the yellow discs of numerous, tiny yellow florets. There may be some red on bract parts. A flowerhead becomes about 1 cm in diameter.

Flowering happens in the earlier part of summer (Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2015; Bond and Goldblatt, 1988; iNaturalist; https://keys.lucidcentral.org).
