Delosperma lavisiae fruit capsules in Lesotho

Delosperma lavisiae fruit capsules in Lesotho
    Author: Ivan Lätti
    Photographer: Judd Kirkel Welwitch

The pale-coloured fruit capsules of Delosperma lavisiae in picture have five locules. There are valve wings but no closing bodies and usually no covering membranes present in Delosperma.

The sharply angled, thickly succulent leaves are not all laterally symmetrical. Up to four pairs of the short, decussate leaves are present on the stems in picture (Smith, et al, 1998; iNaturalist).
