    Cephalophyllum loreum dry fruit

    Cephalophyllum loreum dry fruit
    Author: Ivan Lätti
    Photographer: Judd Kirkel Welwitch

The fruit capsule of Cephalophyllum loreum has many narrow locules with large closing bodies and broad valve wings over the covering membranes.

The capsules in picture are at different stages of decay, releasing seeds or having done so already. The small seeds are pear-shaped and brown in colour (Smith, et al, 1998; Herre, 1971; iNaturalist).
