    Antimima paucifolia leaves

    Antimima paucifolia leaves
    Author: Ivan Lätti
    Photographer: Judd Kirkel Welwitch

The succulent leaves of Antimima paucifolia are opposite in equal pairs, fused at the base. They are triangular in cross-section, the keel curving in at the tip. Small cartilaginous teeth are present on some leaf keels. The leaves and sepals are greyish blue-green or glaucous and smoothly hairless or glabrous.

The compact, cushion-shaped plant in picture is ready to bloom imminently. It shows more sepals than leaves due to the production of numerous stem-tip buds (Smith, et al, 1998; Bond and Goldblatt, 1984; iNaturalist).
