    Kouga River exotic embellishment

    Kouga River exotic embellishment
    Author: Ivan Lätti
    Photographer: Thabo Maphisa

Much exotic vegetation invasion mars the Langkloof streams and lowlands as it does many other riverine parts of the country. Once such trees or shrubs grow by the waterside, seeds are effectively transported downriver, spreading the infestation far, even to the sea.

Particularly black wattle (Acacia mearnsii), blackwood (Acacia melanoxylon), some poplars and a variety of eucalypts form part of the exotic tree invasion present in these parts.
