    Pelargonium exstipulatum

    Pelargonium exstipulatum
    Author: Ivan Lätti
    Photographer: Thabo Maphisa

Pelargonium exstipulatum, in Afrikaans commonly known as the vaalblaarmalva (grey leaf pelargonium), is a single-stemmed, much-branched, woody shrublet reaching heights from 60 cm to 1 m. Young stems tend to be sticky from glandular hairs.

The species distribution is inland in the Western Cape, in the Little Karoo from Ladismith to De Rust.

The habitat is succulent Karoo on rocky slopes. The habitat population is deemed of least concern early in the twenty first century (Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2015; Bond and Goldblatt, 1984; iNaturalist; http://redlist.sanbi.org).
