    Leucospermum catherinae stem base

    Leucospermum catherinae stem base
    Author: Ivan Lätti
    Photographer: Thabo Maphisa

The lower stem part of the Leucospermum catherinae plant is covered in smooth pale brown bark. Scars where leaves had dropped off breaks the smoothness in small scarred spots.

The plant branches much, also low-down but is single-stemmed, a reseeder (Manning, 2007; Eliovson, 1983; iNaturalist; http://pza.sanbi.org).
