    Albuca concordiana tricolour leaves

    Albuca concordiana tricolour leaves
    Author: Ivan Lätti
    Photographer: Thabo Maphisa

These broad-based and tip-curling Albuca concordiana leaves were seen near Calitzdorp on Jakkalskop in September during a very dry year.

Blue-grey and fairly straight at the base, the tapering leaves have tightly wound-up tips, brown-grey and dry. A short pale-pink section showing where moisture is receding from the leaf separates the two parts.

Longitudinal ridges are present upon the parallel-veined (monocot) blades (Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2015).
