Lachenalia carnosa leaves

The two fleshy leaves of Lachenalia carnosa positioned opposite each other grow sheathing the stem-base; the lower leaf also sheathes the upper one.

The leaf-shape is ovate to lanceolate with entire margins and rounded tips, often convex above. The dull to dark green leaves are smooth, parallel vein lines sunken on the upper surfaces. The upper leaf is smaller, a leaf becoming up to 8 cm long.

There are sometimes purple blotches (that may bulge slightly), scattered along the upper leaf surfaces (Williamson, 2010; Le Roux, et al, 2005; Eliovson, 1990; iNaturalist).
