    Foveolina dichotoma mug shot

    Foveolina dichotoma mug shot
    Author: Ivan Lätti
    Photographer: Thabo Maphisa

The full frontal flowerhead view of Foveolina dichotoma is much about circles.

The circular head is a shallow, yellow dome slightly sunken in the centre. There is a smaller circle separating the outer open disc florets from the inner buds, gradually reducing its radius as more of them open. Each bud is circular in its perimeter, a tiny yellow knob, neatly in position among its mates.

The open florets display the occasional pointed lobe without revealing too much floral detail in this photo. There are wide spiralling curves across the ridged, open flower parts, continued in the arrangement of the buds (Le Roux, et al, 2005).
