    Crassothonna sedifolia peduncles

    Crassothonna sedifolia peduncles
    Author: Ivan Lätti
    Photographer: Thabo Maphisa

The peduncles (flower stalks) of Crassothonna sedifolia flowerheads are long and erect over the foliage, maximising the opportunities for pollination. They grow from stem-tips and upper leaf axils.

Few of the peduncles branch, most flowerheads growing solitary (Manning, 2009; Shearing and Van Heerden, 2008; Le Roux, et al, 2005; iNaturalist).
