    Zygophyllum simplex plants in habitat

    Zygophyllum simplex plants in habitat
    Author: Ivan Lätti
    Photographer: Thabo Maphisa

Up close, Zygophyllum simplex offers much of interest in the flatly spread little mats of fleshy components resembling coloured rice. Such exercise would require bending down for making proper acquaintance, as plant parts are quite small.

The small stones lying around the plants easily match them for height, even steering the branches into their directions of development (Smith, et al, 2017; Le Roux, et al, 2005; iNaturalist).
