    Zygophyllum cordifolium buds

    Zygophyllum cordifolium buds
    Author: Ivan Lätti
    Photographer: Thabo Maphisa

Zygophyllum cordifolium flowers grow stalked from upper leaf axils. The buds in picture still have the five fleshy, pointed sepals, not quite equal, clutching the corolla.

The upper leaf-pairs below the flowers deviate from the rounded shape to pointed and obovate, thickly succulent (Manning, 2009; Le Roux, et al, 2005; iNaturalist).
