Oxalis flava var. flava leaf tuft

Oxalis flava var. flava leaf tuft
    Author: Ivan Lätti
    Photographer: Thabo Maphisa

Some leaves lost, maybe taken by a herbivore, this Oxalis flava var. flava plant still has an effective tuft for flowering. The number of leaves borne varies much. The leaf stalks are sturdy, flattened and slightly winged, while the leaflets are sessile, i.e. stalkless.

Leaflet midribs are clearly visible, the blade halves folding in along them. Some leaflets are slightly sickle-shaped, others twisted, the tips pointed but variable (Manning, 2007; Le Roux, et al, 2005; iNaturalist).
