    Ornithoglossum parviflorum var. parviflorum leaves

    Ornithoglossum parviflorum var. parviflorum leaves
    Author: Ivan Lätti
    Photographer: Thabo Maphisa

The alternate, lance-shaped leaves of Ornithoglossum parviflorum var. parviflorum clasp the stem at their base and curve out to acutely pointed tips. They are smooth and blue-green or grey-green, some with undulating margins. The leaves become about 7 cm long, the stem-leaves shorter.

Below the leaves there is a membranous sheathe without a blade around the leaves at the plant base (Williamson, 2010; Bond and Goldblatt, 1984; iNaturalist).
