    Cyphia crenata flower and leaf

    Cyphia crenata flower and leaf
    Author: Ivan Lätti
    Photographer: Thabo Maphisa

This Cyphia crenata flower shows a couple of brown, sickle-shaped sepals on top of the corolla base, two more below. There are five of them in all, forming a flattened calyx around the corolla tube. The narrow sepals are hairy and acutely pointed.

The leaf base in the upper left corner of the photo presents the pair of narrow lobes sometimes present on C. crenata (Manning, 2007; Le Roux, et al, 2005; Manning and Goldblatt, 1996; iSpot).
