    Stachys cuneata leaves

    Stachys cuneata leaves
    Author: Ivan Lätti
    Photographer: Thabo Maphisa

The opposite leaves of Stachys cuneata are well-spaced on the thin, dark upper stems. Among them some flowers are visible in small clusters, grown spike-like from the leaf axils.

The leaves are short-stalked. The leaf-shape is ovate with tapering base and bluntly pointed or slightly rounded tip.

The margins of the whitish, velvety blades are quilted in rounded to square, similar-sized sections. The inner blade parts are smoother with fainter reticulation of vein-lines sometimes repeated here as if with less conviction (Shearing and Van Heerden, 2008; iNaturalist).
