    Wiborgia tenuifolia fruit

    Wiborgia tenuifolia fruit
    Author: Ivan Lätti
    Photographer: Thabo Maphisa

The flat, winged fruit of Wiborgia tenuifolia is stalked and rounded, a single seed in its centre. The pale or purple wings turn brown as the fruits ripen. Fruiting is fairly prolific on the branch in picture, although a fair amount of dead wood is also visible (Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2010; Manning and Goldblatt, 1997; Bond and Goldblatt, 1984; iNaturalist).
