    Wiborgia tenuifolia flat, winged fruit

    Wiborgia tenuifolia flat, winged fruit
    Author: Ivan Lätti
    Photographer: Thabo Maphisa

The purplish, flat Wiborgia tenuifolia fruit is winged, not fully visible here but the style persists on the tip. The rigid, membranous-looking fruit surface is purplish but varying in colour, covered in a whitish bloom.

The hairy calyx is still firmly in position (Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2010; Manning and Goldblatt, 1997; Bond and Goldblatt, 1984; iNaturalist).
