    Romulea sabulosa flower

    Romulea sabulosa flower
    Author: Ivan Lätti
    Photographer: Thabo Maphisa

The satin finish on the tepals of the satin froetang as Romulea sabulosa is commonly known, is visible in the soft shine on the out-curving red parts of the broad tepals.

The pattern of yellow, brown and black patches repeated on the tepals in the base of the cup is quite standard with only minute variations across the species. The flower diameter, however, varies from 2 cm to 4 cm (Manning, 2009; Manning and Goldblatt, 1997; iNaturalist).
