    Pelargonium longicaule stems

    Pelargonium longicaule stems
    Author: Ivan Lätti
    Photographer: Thabo Maphisa

The soft stems of Pelargonium longicaule tend to sprawl or creep. In picture, young, prostrate stems are fleshy, especially younger parts sparsely covered in long, soft hairs. The bigger, older stem parts are purplish red in several shades, the upper parts pale green (Manning, 2007; Manning and Goldblatt, 1996; Bond and Goldblatt, 1984; iNaturalist; www.fernkloof.org.za).
