    Othonna parviflora flowerhead bases

    Othonna parviflora flowerhead bases
    Author: Ivan Lätti
    Photographer: Thabo Maphisa

Seen from below, the involucre of an Othonna parviflora flowerhead presents its single row of smooth, pointed bracts. They are joined at the base in cup-shape. The receptacle in the centre, the floor of the cup around the pedicel, is smooth, without scales.

Up in the sky, a foreign party is preparing for landing; maybe two of them. Interspecies trade is flourishing in the fynbos, free from ministers, tariffs and regulations (Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2010; Manning, 2007; Bond and Goldblatt, 1984; iNaturalist).
