    Cotula turbinata leaves

    Cotula turbinata leaves
    Author: Ivan Lätti
    Photographer: Thabo Maphisa

The alternate leaves of Cotula turbinata are finely divided, two or three times depending on how one counts. The leaf doesn’t have much of a petiole.

The branched leaf lobes are thickly fleshy, tapering to acutely pointed tips. They are purplish red on the plant in picture. Fine, whitish hairs are sparsely scattered on the pale green surfaces. Leaf length is variable, on average about 5 cm (Manning, 007; Manning and Goldblatt, 1996; Bond and Goldblatt, 1984; iNaturalist; Wikipedia; http://pza.sanbi.org).
