    This robust Aspalathus linearis plant in cultivation has a multitude of young branches radiating out from the sturdy stem. Straight needle-leaves are borne on straight branches, reddish in colour. Limited upper branching gives the bush a wispy appearance.

    Ironically, the plant’s habitat is destroyed in parts for planting it commercially. Such are the ways of human progress (Manning, 2007; http://pza.sanbi.org).
