    Arctotis acaulis papery dry

    Arctotis acaulis papery dry
    Author: Ivan Lätti
    Photographer: Thabo Maphisa

The dry fruithead of Arctotis acaulis from which some fruits have already departed, still holds plenty waiting their turn. Their flight plans are determined by development stage and the fortuitous gusts of wind testing attachments and conveying the unsubstantial.

Used-up floral parts and seed packaging components overwhelm in the photo, like the neglected dustbin area at a supermarket. All floral leftovers are fully biodegradable though (Manning, 2007; iNaturalist).
