    Phylica oleifolia lower leaf surfaces

    Phylica oleifolia lower leaf surfaces
    Author: Ivan Lätti
    Photographer: Thabo Maphisa

The strongly ascending Phylica oleifolia stem-tip leaves curve in on their short, yellowish stalks. This exposes the hairy to white velvety lower leaf surfaces where the midribs are prominent and the rolled under margins form ridges. The upper surfaces are clearly greener. The leaf tips are acutely pointed (Coates Palgrave, 2002).
