    Euphorbia rhombifolia red new growth

    Euphorbia rhombifolia red new growth
    Author: Ivan Lätti
    Photographer: Thabo Maphisa

This dark red stem-tip growth on a Euphorbia rhombifolia plant was seen in August after rain in Namaqualand, west of Springbok.

The new growth is slender and smooth, the branching equal or dichotomous. The leaves are few, small and falling early (Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2015; Shearing and Van Heerden, 2008; Gledhill, 1981; iNaturalist).
