Pelargonium klinghardtense leaf cluster on the stem

Pelargonium klinghardtense leaf cluster on the stem
    Author: Ivan Lätti
    Photographer: Thabo Maphisa

A cluster of leaves has sprouted on the smooth Pelargonium klinghardtense stem. The pale yellow-green stems may also be blue-green. Thin, patchy flaking of the stem skin is visible here.

The plant grows some long stems as well as leaf-bearing dwarf shoots. The leaves seen here may be the beginning of such a dwarf shoot.

The leaves of P. klinghardtense are hairy, although this is only disclosed upon close scrutiny (Frandsen, 2017; Smith, et al, 2017; Le Roux, et al, 2005; iNaturalist; www.bihrmann.com; https://www.llifle.com; www.pelargonium.si).
