Osteospermum sinuatum var. sinuatum back view of flowerhead

Osteospermum sinuatum var. sinuatum back view of flowerhead
    Author: Ivan Lätti
    Photographer: Thabo Maphisa

The back view of the Osteospermum sinuatum var. sinuatum flowerhead shows the main row of pointed involucral bracts with their membranous, transparent margins. Unusual in the picture is a second lower row of bracts around the base of the involucre.

The stalks, stem leaves and bracts of the plant are all pale and finely hairy (Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2010; Le Roux, et al, 2005; Shearing and Van Heerden, 2008; Vahrmeijer, 1981; iNaturalist).
