Gladiolus ecklonii flowers may have large tepals with tips somewhat spreading, even showing lateral curvature. The white tepals are variably spotted or speckled, in the case of this plant the spots are dark brownish purple. The tepals may be asymmetrical and the margins slightly wavy. There are angled green and yellow areas or nectar guides in the cup-shaped throat of the flower.

The split at the tip of the style into three branches is visible in one of the flowers in picture (Manning, 2009; Goldblatt and Manning, 1998; iNaturalist).
