    Curio acaulis fluffy fruits

    Curio acaulis fluffy fruits
    Author: Ivan Lätti
    Photographer: Louis Jordaan

The fluffy white heads of Curio acaulis fruits are near the moment of wind dispersal of their seeds. Each fruit bears a pappus of thread-like bristles at one end, serving to enhance the imminent flight (Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2010; Manning, 2007).
