    Aulax umbellata old male flowers

    Aulax umbellata old male flowers
    Author: Ivan Lätti
    Photographer: Thabo Maphisa

This male Aulax umbellata inflorescence consists of a cluster of narrow, loose racemes, fairly old flowers. The tiny florets ascend in the racemes that look like erect, soft pale yellow catkins.

The photo was taken in Fernkloof in March at the end of the flowering season (Manning, 2007; Bean and Johns, 2005).
