    Adromischus maculatus expanding

    Adromischus maculatus expanding
    Author: Ivan Lätti
    Photographer: Thabo Maphisa

This Adromischus maculatus plant in the Karoo has lasted well, growing new branches around the dead central parts; a bit like towns that retain centrally situated cemeteries.

Some erect inflorescence stalks are present as January is the middle of bloomtime, although no open flower can be detected. This plant lives in exposed conditions in sandy soil; some grass keeps it company (Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2010).
