    Pteronia fasciculata stem-tip flowerhead

    Pteronia fasciculata stem-tip flowerhead
    Author: Ivan Lätti
    Photographer: Thabo Maphisa

The stem-tip leaves of Pteronia fasciculata may reach right up to the flowerhead in the centre and ascend around it. The floral bracts subtending the disc florets are dark brown, smaller than the leaves.

The leaves below green-yellow, the flowerhead remains straw-coloured, both confirm that the job at hand has been done, but rain would be welcome. The picture is from April after a long, dry summer.
