    Drosanthemum speciosum may also flower red and do so with gusto; the Afrikaans common name of rooivygie (red mesemb) hasn’t appeared for no reason. This plant was seen in an impressive collection of spring flowering mesembs in the Caledon Wildflower Garden during October (Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2010).
