    Satyrium macrophyllum habitat

    Satyrium macrophyllum habitat
    Author: Ivan Lätti
    Photographer: Judd Kirkel Welwitch

Satyrium macrophyllum plants present groups of tall, sturdy flower stems in moist or marshy patches of summer grassland, sometimes also in woodland.

The species distribution lies in the Eastern Cape, KwaZulu-Natal and Lesotho as well as in tropical Africa at elevations from 350 m to 2000 m.

The species is not considered to be threatened in its habitat early in the twenty first century (Pooley, 1998; www.zimbabweflora.co.zw; www.redlist.sanbi.org).
