    Huttonaea oreophila leaf

    Huttonaea oreophila leaf
    Author: Ivan Lätti
    Photographer: Judd Kirkel Welwitch

Two stem leaves are grown by an Huttonaea oreophila plant. The lower leaf is bigger, the upper one sometimes only a sheath. The leaf shape is broadly ovate to heart-shaped, tapering to an acutely pointed tip and sheathing the stem. Leaves grow to 5 cm long and 3,5 cm wide.

The flat leaf in picture appears thinly fleshy and smooth, although a narrow band of small white marks, cells or possibly hairs, are visible in the photo (www.africanorchids.dk; www.orchidspecies.com).
