    Holothrix filicornis many-flowered

    Holothrix filicornis many-flowered
    Author: Ivan Lätti
    Photographer: Judd Kirkel Welwitch

This cylindrical Holothrix filicornis inflorescence is densely flowered, more so than some of the others shown in this Album. Flowers are concentrated to one side of the stem, a feature often seen in Holothrix flowering.

The short petal and lip bases are broad, their thread-like lobes protruding haphazardly. This represents a kind of floral chaos, limbs pointing and winding in all directions.

Flowering happens in autumn and early winter (Williamson, 2010).
