    Habenaria nyikana subsp. nyikana spurs

    Habenaria nyikana subsp. nyikana spurs
    Author: Ivan Lätti
    Photographer: Judd Kirkel Welwitch

Habenaria nyikana subsp. nyikana spurs are inflated at their tips. So much so that the flowers in picture appear secondary to the large, club-shaped spur sacs at the end of their long tubes.

Some dry brown bracts help to differentiate the long ovaries from the smooth spurs that start off white near the lip, turning green around the tip (www.orchidspecies.com).
