    Habenaria epipactidea inflorescence apex

    Habenaria epipactidea inflorescence apex
    Author: Ivan Lätti
    Photographer: Judd Kirkel Welwitch

This flourishing Habenaria epipactidea inflorescence shows open flowers to its top. Each flower grows above a pointed, erect bract and a ridged, pale green ovary, gracefully curving.

The ear-like lateral petals, striped green at the top of each flower and the white or cream narrow lip at the bottom are distinctive features in the photo (Pooley, 1998).
