    Habenaria barbertoni inflorescence

    Habenaria barbertoni inflorescence
    Author: Ivan Lätti

Habenaria barbertoni inflorescences consist of three to ten flowers growing in a lax spike. This is yet another South African orchid commonly known in Afrikaans as moederkappie (mother bonnet).

From flower appearance it is easy to see that Bonatea is a closely related orchid genus. Flowering happens late in summer to early autumn (Lowrey and Wright, 1987; Germishuizen and Fabian, 1982; JSTOR).
