Ziziphus mucronata subsp. mucronata and wasp

Ziziphus mucronata subsp. mucronata and wasp
    Author: Ivan Lätti
    Photographer: Ivan Lätti

Not everyone dares hanging out with the big dogs. This wasp and its compatriots have much satisfaction from the Ziziphus mucronata subsp. mucronata blooming season (mid-spring through summer).

Although there is probably enough nectar for all to enjoy, the meek might give the strong or potentially dangerous a wide berth. In polite society people respect others frequenting the same restaurant; in nature such niceties are not the norm. Some guests are mistaken for fare: One could get eaten oneself or expect the worst from those that do not lay down their arms before coming to table (Coates Palgrave, 2002).
