    Disa saxicola leaves

    Disa saxicola leaves
    Author: Ivan Lätti
    Photographer: Judd Kirkel Welwitch

The green leaves of Disa saxicola sheathe the stem. They are strap-shaped to narrowly lance-shaped, long and channelled or folded length-wise. Leaves become about 1,7 cm wide, the largest ones up to 15 cm long.

Smaller leaves reduce in size up the stem, overlap and remaining more erect and close to the stem than the big ones lower down (Pooley, 1998; http://orchids.wikia.com).
