    Bonatea boltonii leaves

    Bonatea boltonii leaves
    Author: Ivan Lätti
    Photographer: Judd Kirkel Welwitch

The alternate leaves of Bonatea boltonii crowded at the base are large, reducing in size up the flower stem. In picture the leaves are green and flourishing on the flowering plant.

Leaf shape is elliptic to obovate, tapering broadly to a pointed tip and clasping the stem at the base. The leaf blade, yellow green in colour and a little wavy, has entire margins and a slight fold along its midrib. There are from five to thirteen leaves on a stem (www.africanorchids.dk).
